(3-6 year olds)
“The Montessori classroom is a community of different ages and interests, which allows each child to successfully overcome many challenges in a cooperative manner with others. Montessori Education encourages this type of helpful social interaction - the teacher serving more as an observer of this positive mutual help.”
-Maria Montessori
Language
In Montessori, children are not “taught” to read and write, but develop these skills naturally by the use of fascinating materials as: sand paper letters, metal insets, movable alphabet, cards, geography and botany puzzles. These enable them to achieve the necessary skills for ease of expression, dexterity in writing and love of reading.
Mathematics
Montessori translates the abstract meaning of mathematics into concrete meaningful forms, such as number rods, spindle game, golden beads, decimal system, teen and ten boards, and Mortensen Math. Children learn the basics of addition, subtraction, multiplication and division in a challenging and exciting way.
practical life & motor development
Learning to perform everyday functions in a joyful, practical way - by lacing, polishing, cutting - the children acquire motor skills and grace of movement, leading to strong self-concepts.
sensorial education
Materials that stimulate and refine the sense of sight, hearing, feeling, smelling, and tasting are presented in special forms, such as color tablets, musical bells, geometric solids and spice boxes, leading to enrichment of discrimintation and awareness.
