For over three decades, Rainbow Montessori Multicultural School has enjoyed a reputation as the finest Montessori preschool in our community. Our goal is to foster the innate creativity in each child, and help maximize his/her potential, while still being a kid!
RMMS accepts children ages 12 months through kindergarten, in a mixed age setting. We offer low student/teacher ratios and a Multicultural program that includes Spanish, Yoga, P.E and Computer.
Our school consists of 5 separate classrooms. Our Little Montessorian classroom accommodates children of 12 months (must be walking) to 3 years of age, still in diapers. Our Greenhouse classroom is a transitional environment for children 2 1/2 to 3 – 3 1/2 years old and not fully potty trained. We have 3 additional classrooms, Rainbow, Blue Sky and Sunshine, accommodating children ages 3 to 6. Our Kindergarten program is fully recognized by the Broward and Dade County School systems.
The academic school day runs from 8:30 AM to 3 PM. In addition, we offer Before Care hours from 7:00 AM to 8:30 AM and After Care hours from 3:00 PM to 6:30 PM. Entrance to the school is secured by electronic gates that only allow entrance to parents or caregivers who have a key fob or are allowed entrance by office staff who verify their identity.
We encourage all interested parents to come and visit our school, to more fully understand who we are and what we do. Tours are given Monday through Thursday mornings at 10 AM (for children who are not yet potty trained) and at 10:30 AM (for 3-6 years).
Rainbow Montessori offers a viewing room to provide additional security. We have 6 monitors in the viewing room with cameras in every classroom and outside area. Parents are welcomed in our viewing room, as we encourage you to sit and watch.
What is Montessori Education?
Montessori is a method of education named after Dr. Maria Montessori. She was the first woman in Italy to obtain the degree of Doctor of Medicine. Because she was a doctor, Maria Montessori looked at education from a scientific level. She believed that education should prepare a person for all aspects of life. She designed materials and techniques that would promote a natural growth of learning in students. They are common to all Montessori classrooms. Working with these materials and techniques forms a pattern that children carry over naturally to reading, writing, and mathematics.
